The Anti-Christ fulfills the work of Christ

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

(Read these basic posts: Thelema is post-Christianity, not anti-Christianity | Jesus is not the Savior, You are!God in Thelema is not the morbid Christian God )

The title of this post is ‘the Anti-Christ fulfills the work of Christ.’ In “An Open Letter to Rabbi Joel Blau” (available in Revival of Magick), To Mega Therion 666 informs us how Thelema supersedes Christianity. Keep in mind that the political state we know as ‘Israel’ did not exist back then and would not come into existence for at least a couple decades. Israel is understood as the Kingdom of Heaven, the spiritual Temple & Home of Zion (Let Thelemites remember that Zion = 156). Again, Israel refers to establishment of the City of God, not the political state of Israel that was established in the 1940s:

Your salvation lies in spiritual self-realization.

…Our Law contains these words: ‘Every man and every woman is a star…’ The economy of space demands that each star should satisfy its own conditions, move in its proper orbit. No artificial arrangement will secure harmony. It is not for an astronomer to propose a plan by which one group of stars may be kept from colliding with others… Each star is equally inviolable, eternal, individual…

When Moses gave His new Law, His was the Word which expressed the spiritual truth fit for that age and that folk. Other Masters have appeared from time to time with other words… In the same way, the Word of our Law which I now proclaim, formulates an ethical principle by the acceptance of which every man and every woman, of whatever race, may become sole arbiter of his or her own destiny, and achieve the automatically demonstrated certainty that every Star is supreme in its own sphere, all collision and confusion being due to that very mistake of moral misalliance which you indicate as the root of most of the monstrous growths in the Lord’s vineyard…

Jew and Gentile have been forced into contact under innumerable varieties of social condition. Friction has been at a minimum when the Jew has been in contact either with Arabic civilization or English jurisprudence. These two environments have a common factor: non-interference. English indifference and Moslem self-respect are agreed on the ethical principle:  ‘Mind your own business.’ This is one of the moral postulates of our own Law.

‘Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.’ The solution of the Jewish problem is simply this: ‘Shiloh shall come’ [Gen 49:10]. The Messiah must arise, and His name shall be called Anti-Christ, even as I who am already arisen, am called The Beast and my number is the number of a man, six hundred and three score and six [Rev. 13:18]. And this shall be the sign of the Messiah, Anti-Christ, He who shall lead at least His people Israel into the Holy Mountain, the True Zion…

One word in reconciliation of an apparent antinomy. Do not think of Anti-Christ as opposed to Christ, any more than you think of the pleura as opposed to the lungs which it bounds. Woman is not the opposite of man – the difference between them is necessary to their cooperation. Without it, neither could reproduce their common elements in either component… The arising of Anti-Christ will make possible the coming of Christ…

Fear not then that Anti-Christ, in establishing Israel, will injure Christianity, He will, on the contrary, assist the Christian spirit to cleanse itself from the confused acquiescence in anarchical amiability which it calls ‘charity,’ and is really cowardice, really the slave’s shame of his own condition, the sense of guilt which he soothes by minimizing all misdemeanours, ‘Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.’ Let Anti-Christ arise, let Him announce to Israel its integrity… Then let Him speak the Word of the Will of his People, so that All Israel with unite energy, disciplined and directed, move as one man irresistibly to fulfil Destiny…

The Sun of Righteousness has risen, and he hath healing in his wings [Malachi 4:2]. Hear thou the Word of the Lord! ‘Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.’ For in this Word shalt thou be sealed, and thou shalt save the people from their sin, for ‘The word of Sin is Restriction,’ and the sin of Israel is this: that it has never known itself, or done its Will.”

Love is the law, love under will.

I have interacted with many persons such as you and it is always an interesting conversation. When at U Cincinnati we met many former Christians who had been wounded by Christians or parent snad who rejected the free salvation that Jesus Christ promises. As a Clinical Counselor I have seen numerous people healed, delivered and set from from guilt, shame and bondage. My experienc is very different from what seems to be yours.

93 Gary – Thanks for your comment. I have indeed seen people healed from guilt, shame, and bondage (mental, emotional, sexual, spiritual, etc. the works), including through clinical counseling/therapy work. Of course I accept the possibility of ‘healing,’ and that is partly the reason for this blog. Thelemites believe that getting rid of the kind of guilt & shame that you seem to also work to get rid of is necessary towards ‘healing.’ True healing or complete healing comes from ‘finding the True Will’ in this system:

“‘Every man and every woman is a star,’ that is, an aggregate of such experiences, constantly changing with each fresh event, which affects him or her either consciously or subconsciously. Each one of us has thus an universe of his own, but it is the same universe for each one as soon as it includes all possible experience. This implies the extension of consciousness to include all other consciousness… each of us stars is to move on our true orbit, as marked out by the nature of our position, the law of our growth, the impulse of our past experiences. All events are equally lawful— and every one necessary, in the long run— for all of us, in theory; but in practice, only one act is lawful for each one of us at any given moment. Therefore Duty consists in determining to experience the right event from one moment of consciousness to another. Each action or motion is an act of love, the uniting with one or another part of “Nuit”; each such act must be “under will,” chosen so as to fulfil and not to thwart the true nature of the being concerned.” (Intro to Liber AL). Love is the law, love under will.

Interesting posts you have, though I think Christianity is still alive and thriving. Jesus Christ is our savior. Thanks for you comments on our blog.

    Oh foolish sinners.

I too was lost in sin, but found grace and mercy through my Savior and God Jesus Christ.

It was because of His love for me that I am now free of my bondage.

You can find that same peace. Repent, for the days are short. Give your lives to Jesus. He is your only hope!

Amen, Digger. Thanks for that refreshing comment.

93 Digger – What bondage are you free of? Now you are burdened with guilt and concern over sin. ” I give unimaginable joys on earth: certainty, not faith, while in life, upon death; peace unutterable, rest, ecstasy; nor do I demand aught in sacrifice.” (The Book of the Law) The days are indeed short, so why waste them by ‘giving our lives to Jesus’? What does that even mean to you? Condemning people as ‘foolish sinners’ on the internet (while conveniently forgetting Matthew 7:5)? Love is the law, love under will.

It is important to me, when exploring world religions, to remain objective, and penetrate doctrines in their totality.

Crowley’s understanding of Christianity was mostly derived from his experience with protestant fundamentalism; he did not however seem to possess a deep understanding Orthodoxy or Eastern Christianity. Consequently, the ideas of “bondage” and “sin”, in the Eastern context are different from the Western variety, and entirely distinct from fundamentalism.

What the East views as “bondage”, is essentially a permanent death, which is seen as an unnatural condition, arising from “True Man’s” entry into duality. Christ is literally called “The God who descended into Hades (realm of the dead–not “hell”), “by whose death he trampled death, becoming the first born of the dead”. Eastern Christianity is thus, not so much concerned with “Heaven” and “Hell”, and “saving sinners”, as it is with attaining immortality (or regenerating man’s primal nature). There is an affinity with Hermeticism in this.

Then, there is the concept of “sin”, which unlike fundamentalism, is not a list of “black” and “white” deeds, written in stone. In the East, sin is viewed on a “sliding scale”; what is a sin for one person, might not be a sin for another, the matter is somewhat circumstantial. Overall though, sin is defined as “disordered passion”, it constitutes an imbalance or disharmony between the individual, his environment, and the people in his life, which adversely impact his pursuit of regeneration and immortality, and require correction, if he intends to move nearer Theosis/Gnosis.

On this last note, I tend to think, that there is more in common between the Eastern Christian doctrine of sin, and the Law of Thelema, than either party is usually willing to recognize.

Digger I too believe in Jesus Christ, but who are you to throw these stones? Who are you to condemn us as foolish sinners? How do you know that we don’t repent whenever we intentionally do or realize we are doing/have done an unmagickal act/sin. How do you even know that all thelemites are even sinners anymore. I doubt a true Thelemite breaks any of your rules that should be mastered AT CHILDHOOD! LOL

    God loves you very much..

93 Charie – I experience God’s love through the love of other men & women, and I know God’s love expressed in the appearance of the world itself and the possibility of interaction with it. Love is the law, love under will.

Its really interesting to see the Christians on here that are rejecting this post. There is nothing in the Law of Thelema that Jesus Christ is at odds with. Maybe someone can give me an example? Finding your True Will is doing God’s Will, or else you haven’t really found your True Will. “…open wide your hearts and you receive Me ; be united, helping one another and try to console My people in these times; the love of your neighbor should be your main concern;” – Jesus See the love of your neighbor is the love of yourself. When Thelema refers to your Self; It means a lot more than what some would think

Crowley acknowledged that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. According to the bible “This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. Agape vel Liber C vel Azoth is just one of the many examples where The Beast acknowledges Jesus as God.
